"Gardner Museum"

0525

Some BU friends and I went to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

The museum was the residence of Isabella Stewart, one of the foremost female patrons of the arts around Boston (1840~1924). She was also a supporter of Boston Symphony, the Red Sox and Harvard College football. The “Fenway Court”, the museum’s original name, was designed to house her collections. Needless to say, her collections were unbelievably diverse, even including Japanese sliding doors.

The mansion itself is magnificent and elegantly designed. Obviously, Miss Gardner spent quite a fortune building this “palace”. From my perspective, the trip to the museum makes me realize that the ultimate profession of wealthy people is to spend their money.

Hey! I wouldn't mind going there again at all. I was thinking of having lunch there sometime.
