"Coffee and Cigarettes"

A friend of mine lent me her DVD “Coffee and Cigarettes.”

This movie’s style is unique. First of all, it is a B&W movie. Unlike “Sin City”, in which the contract of black and white is enhanced by postproduction, this movie’s “color” is plain and simple. Under this circumstance, needless to day, the composition of the sequences is carefully designed. Second, there are several celebrities in this movie, including actors, actresses, and musicians. Not just that, most actors play themselves in this movie, such as Iggy Pop, Tom Waits, Cate Blanchett, Alfred Molina, Steve Coogan, GZA, RZA and Bill Murray.

This movie is a collection of eleven short stories. My favorite one is the episode played by Cate Blanchett. She is such a genius, playing two roles of opposite styles: one is elegant and the other is unrefined. This story is quite interesting and realistic, discussing Cate Blanchett as a famous actress.

Personally, it is a fun movie to watch. People addicted to coffee or cigarette would love it, too!
