Someone once warmed me that the test was not that easy as I might have expected. I did not bear his words in my mind. I was thinking that I had swum for so many years. A “small” swim test should be a piece of cake for me. Yet, it turned out that I was requested to perform the following:
- Jump or dive into the deep end.
- Swim for a length of 15 feet underwater.
- Demonstrate rhythmic breathing for four lengths of the pool (100 yards).
- Tread water for two minutes.
- Survival float face-down for one minute
Swimming and floating were not a big deal to me, but the treading was really challenging since I have never treaded in water before! I had not choices but to try my very best and managed not sink down. However, my muscles and bones were sore and I was exhausted.
Well, the good news is that I did pass the test. I can enjoy my summer courses in the near future.
