Unbelievable!!

1030

Tonight I saw an interesting program about the chestnut tiger bufferflies in Taiwan on National Geographical Channel.

Shin-De Lee, one graduate student from NTU who captured butterflies and made marks on them, unveiled the secret where chestnut tiger butterflies might fly to after May. One butterfly marked “1032C NTU” on Yang-Ming Shan was recaptured 13 days later in Japan. It is estimated that it must have flew nearly 2000 km to get there.

This discovery is really phenomenal. A tiny butterfly is capable of flying such a long distance. It is surprising to know a life looks so fragile can accomplish so demanding a task.

It strikes me that never underestimate one’s mind power and determination. Even though I am not strong, it does not mean that I can’t achieve greatness.

P.S. The photo above is a fly marked “SOA 118”. It traveled from Japan and was recaptured in Taiwan.
