To do a yogic push-up, one has to get ready to a Plank pose and progresses to a Chaturanga.
The photo above is a Plank pose. The body should be straight and strong. One has to press his/her palms firmly and evenly onto the floor.
This one is a Chaturanga. The upper arms should be parallel to the floor and the body should stay in one line.
It is not that unmanageable for me to do either a Plank or a Chaturanga. Yet, I find it challenging to switch these two poses. I am supposed to bend my elbows slowly and hover a few minutes above the ground and “push up.” The process is one of the most demanding yogic tasks for me. I always end up hitting myself on the ground when I try to push up my body. (So did I this morning!)
Hopefully, by practicing it every day, I can do a smooth Chaturanga Dandasana, yogic push-up, some day.
